Abilities
- Roman is very polite-spoken, with a voice that's very soft in tone though perfectly normal in volume. Because of being raised alongside the church, he tends to come off as rather formal, much like one of the priests there, especially since he doesn't use shortened names often.
- He doesn't really hold any beliefs himself, however. He does respect Sparda deeply, but after the issues with what the church was doing and how close both him and Nero came to a terrible fate, he was left fairly traumatized and struggles to put his faith in something he doesn't know personally (such as Nero himself, or Dante).
- He tries his best to be kind, especially to strangers, and can often be a little too self-sacrificing for his own good. More than once, Nero's had to stop him from giving up his own lunch for someone else's sake, or working too hard on a chore list given to him (to the point of neglecting sleep). This partly comes from his feelings of inferiority thanks to his loss of sight and the burden he places on others because of it, as he sometimes feels that this over-working is the only way to make up for it. It's somewhat worse after the incident, because he tends to throw himself into things like keeping Nero's branch of DMC clean and organized more than usual, but without Nero's usual presence to drag him back in.
- He's actually quite modest and shy. Even though he can't see anything, the idea of someone else being naked around him flusters him immensely and he can't stand to be bare around someone else. The mere act of kissing sometimes feels embarrassingly intimate to him, though he craves Nero's presence and touch in essentially every aspect.
- Compared to Nero's rebelliousness, Roman is almost alarmingly obedient, often going along with what authority says without much will to argue it. He doesn't obey blindly, but he doesn't feel he has the strength to really disagree or fight it.
- He tends to be very affection-starved, especially with Nero's general need to look cool.
- He loves to sing, and sometimes did in the church he and Nero attended. However, he feels a bit as if his singing is just bothersome to some people, especially with Dante's jutebox, and as such doesn't sing very much when others are around.
Abilities
- Roman has strange abilities from an unknown source; he's thought to be definitely human, but where this magic came from, then, is a mystery. When asked, his best guess is that it was something left over from his "incident", the one blessing he was given in return for that curse.
- His first ability is being able to mildly manipulate elements. He can't cast fireballs or anything like that, but if an element exists in a state nearby, he can modify it some (such as trying to shift fire slightly out of the way so he can pass safely, if still overheated).
- The most widely-used version of this is his "elemental bullets". If given a gun, he can enchant the bullets with nearly any elemental power, giving them a stronger kick against demons that are specifically aligned to one or the other. He uses this to assist Nero in fights, especially since he has a knack for finding spots he can hide in whenever demons are around that would keep him out of the way.
- His second ability is something akin to an "aura sense". He can feel the energy around things if he concentrates, allowing him to navigate new areas without sight and somewhat recognize people from the aura they give off. This isn't at all perfect -- he can only see vague shapes in enough detail to know how to walk around them, and people's auras can appear similar if they're related, leading him to mistake one for another (such as Dante and Nero) until he adjusts to the subtleties in their auras. And of course, since he has to concentrate, he can't keep it up easily or forever, meaning he does still have to rely on others for guidance at times.
- The one exception to this are things with strong auras; Roman can "see" demons even without concentrating and quite easily, too, allowing him to navigate well even while tired.
